So. Charleston, Ohio - A great place
to raise a family!

My hometown of South Charleston, Ohio is a wonderful place to raise a family!  First of all, it is a small, quaint town that has a very comfortable and cozy atmosphere.  The main reason it is comfortable and cozy is because of the people.  It has about 1700 residents of all ages and backgrounds, so there is a very nice variety and they are very friendly, warm, and welcoming.  Also, since there are so few people, they know each other closely and all get along well.  Another reason South Charleston is comfortable and cozy is because of its small size and excellent maintenance.  A person can walk from one end of town to the other in about 20 minutes and along the way can see very beautifully maintained streets, houses, and lawns.  Also, if you walk down main street, you can see old historic buildings with unique architecture, for example, City Hall and the neighboring St. Charles Catholic Church.  There are also two convenient places for shopping within a short distance from most anyone's home in this wonderful small town.  Next, South Charleston is a great place to raise a family because of its schools.  For public schooling, it has a three-school system consisting of an elementary school, a middle school, and a high school, all of which offer a very high quality education due to having excellent curriculum, teachers, and facilities, as well as a variety of after school programs.  South Charleston also has a private elementary school that offers a high quality educational alternative to public elementary school. Finally, it is a fabulous place to raise children because of the recreational opportunities it has for its residents.  The city park is beautiful and has a lot of nicely manicured green space, as well as nicely maintained ball fields, for example, a baseball diamond and a soccer field.  It also has nice playground equipment for children to play on and a great shelter house in which families can have picnics.  On the east end of the park, there is a big olympic-sized pool that provides many hours of recreation for citizens during the summer months.  Out of these excellent facilities, there are many recreational and sports programs offered to residents, like competitive swimming, soccer, baseball, and tai chi.  For all these reasons, South Charleston, Ohio makes a terrific place to raise children!
